Named after the legendary explorer David Livingstone, the town of Livingstone is a gateway to the rest of Zambia. Also known as Maramba, most of the accommodation is located along the banks of the Zambezi river.
Originally situated at a place known as “the old drift”, the site was abandoned when the railway bridge came into operation.
One of the most exciting adventures to do in Livingstone today is a dip in the Devil’s Pool. During the dry months and if the water is low enough you can actually walk to Livingstone Island. It was here that David Livingstone had his first glimpse of the Falls.
