Tourist visas for Botswana, all you need to know for entry.

All visitors entering Botswana must hold a passport that is valid for at least six months, except those with United Nations Convention travel documents.

Botswana is located in central southern Africa.  Well known as a prime safari destination, the country also has world heritage sites, historical sites, ancient cultures.

Destination Kasane / Chobe 

Chobe National Park was established in 1968 and is some 11 700 sq. kms in size.
The habitat is made up of floodplains, woodland, sandbar islands and swamps.

Originating in Angola at which point the river is called the Kwando.  Continuing its

journey south it flows through the Linyanti area of Namibia and Botswana at which

point it takes the name Linyanti.  Its next destination is Botswana where it becomes the Chobe river, eventually draining into the Zambezi river.

When to go

For birding enthusiasts the Chobe river can be visited year round.  November to early April is when the migrant birds can be seen.

In the park over 460 bird species have been recorded.

From April thru to November the biggest concentrations of wildlife can be found.

Elephants

The biggest show on earth can be found at Chobe.  Elephant populations are legendary and provide exciting safari experiences with their antics.

They will come down to the river to drink, bathe and play.  A dust bath is also part of the ritual before they decide to go visit one of the nearby island and set off swimming.

Visa Application requirements

– Fully completed application form
– Certified (notarized) copy of passport page of applicant (showing names, validity and photograph of bearer)
– two recent colour passport-size photos
– covering letter from the applicant 
– travel scheduled, flight itinerary and hotel booking
– passport must be valid for at least six months with three or more unused pages  
– include a prepaid self addressed label or envelope to return your passport
