Namibia Coach Tours – the Experience

■ leaving Windhoek we head into the world’s largest sand mass – Kalahari Desert – a vast semi desert of wind blown sand and sparse thorn scrub
■ known to the Bushmen as the “soul of the world” the region comprises red sand dunes and grassy plains
■ near Keetmanshoop we find the Quiver Tree Forest, a spectacular collection of the aloe dichotoma trees
■ the world’s second largest canyon is located at Fish River.
measuring approx. 160km in length and 27 kms wide with a depth of 550 metres in some places
■ en route to Luderitz there is a stop at the ghost mining town of Kolmanskop
■ once a thriving diamond centre, all that remains today of Kolmanskop is deserted mansions slowly being taken over by the sand
■ many historic buildings can be found in Luderitz – Namibia’s a busy fishing port – these include the Railway Station, the “church on the rocks” Felsenkirche
■ we will also visit Diaz Point erected by Bartholomeu Diaz
■ continuing to Sossusvlei & Dead Vlei and some of the highest sand dunes on earth
■ climbing in the early morning is the best time and offers a glorious kaleidoscope of changing colours
■ Swakopmund Namibia’s playground offers activities and adventures – history and culture – shopping malls and European style pavement cafes
■ take a marine cruise at Walvis Bay – a RAMSAR World Heritage Site
■ travelling north into Damaraland past Namibia’s highest mountain – the Brandberg –
this harsh rugged region is home to black rhino and the desert elephant
■ at Twyfelfontein witness where the Bushman recorded his history on more than 2500 rock art paintings
■ here also we visit the Petrified Forest and Welwitschia mirabilis
■ Etosha’s magnificent wildlife is next on the itinerary – home to more than 114 mammal species and 350 bird species
