Gweta Lodge at Gweta BOtswana

It’s the size of Portugal, flat and stark, few humans.  We are talking about the Makgadikgadi, the world’s largest salt pans.

The Makgadikgadi is in fact a series of pans.  The largest are Sowa and Ntwetwe and a number of other small pans surround them.

Although desolate for most of the year, in times of good rains zebra and wildebeest will be found.  Putting on a display that runs into the tens and sometimes hundreds, are the flamingos.
