The Chobe river has earned a reputation for being a wildlife destination of note.  In addition to its famous elephant population which amuse visitors with their swimming from island to island, look out for sable and roan.  Buffalo favour the islands well away from lion.

Chobe Elephant Camp was built as a true eco lodge.  Extreme temperature variations are characteristic of semi arid bush in Africa and in order to overcome this,  the lodge was built using sand, one of Earth’s greatest insulators.

Constructed from sandbags, this has created a natural insultating barrier and enhances the farm style feel of the camp.

With an eye on the environment and renewable resources, the furniture is made from renewable wood sources or from reclaimed wood.
Not forgetting the use of the sun’s energy which is harnessed to heat the water.

All activities at the camp are conducted with local professional guides.  Their job is to give you an insight into the sights, sounds, smells of the bush as well as the inhabitants.

Take time to visit the nearby village for a cultural experience.
