Batoka Gorge Hike

The Victoria Falls Batoka Gorge hike takes you down into the gorge to the Boiling Pot. The descent is steep so you need to be reasonably fit. Hike across rocks, stand  under the spray of the Victoria Falls and enjoy a dip in the pools. A breath taking experience.

Boiling Pot Hike – the Experience : US$ 59 pp

This activity has been designed for hiking enthusiasts taking you into the Batoka Gorge Hike, along the Zambezi river.

The day begins with a transfer from your hotel to the top of the Gorge. From here you will don the life jacket and helmet, take up your walking stick and off you go for a walk down into the Batoka Gorge, past the historic Victoria Falls Bridge to the Boiling Pot.

From here at the foot of the Victoria Falls, manoeuvre across rocky platforms to stand under the spray of the thundering Mosi oa Tunya.

Take a dip in the pools with the rainbows curling around you. The trip allows you to raft back down before take out at Rapid No. 2

Note that the Zambezi gorge hike is a seasonal activity and only available from late August to early December.

Drop off: 12h30/12h50.

Batoka Hike & Ndebele Village Tour : duration approx. 5.5. hours (hiking 2.5 hours)


Enjoy a 40-minute drive through picturesque scenery to the top of the Batoka Gorge. After the safety briefing take the vertical descent to Rapid 23 and enjoy the hour long walk along the river to rapid 25. Swim and relax in the eddy before the arduous climb out.

The hiking continues into a beautiful Ndebele homestead where you will get a chance to interact with the local headman and his family.
Sitting in the shade of their decorated mud huts, enjoy brunch with the Headman’s family.

Your hosts will show off their home and share their cultural way of life in relation to family, education, livestock, diet and anything you may find interesting.

■ a reasonable level of fitness is required to participate in the hike.
■ minimum age : 15 years; persons under the age of 18 need a signed authorisation from parent or guardian
■ wear shoes fit for hiking
