Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q's)

Is it cheaper to book direct?

There is no benefit to booking direct because:

1) No lodge or hotel will give you a rate lower then those supplied to a travel agent

2) In a lot of cases hotels supply special discounts to high volume travel agents such as us, who then pass it on to you

3) Special Package deals are only offered to travel agents

4) Hotels do not offer flights or in most cases their own road transfers

5) Paying in the multiple currencies of this region creates unnecessary bank charges

6) In Zimbabwe paying direct, attracts an additional 15% VAT charge

7) Some Hotels have a two tier tariff system whereby International visitors pay a higher rate then locals. We know the ones that do and the ones that don't

8) For a hassle free holiday it is wiser to book through us as we know all the snags and besides you receive a detailed Travel guide - which is invaluable, FOR FREE

P.S. Please do not ask us for the direct hotel contact details, we have heard every story imaginable why we should supply them. NO CHANCE

If you have booked through us, ONLY A PLEASURE (if it is not already in your voucher)

How long in advance do I need to book a holiday?

  1. School Holiday and peak periods about 3 months in advance
  2. Off peak period ( Jan to June) - 1 month should be fine
  3. Safari tours at least 2 to 3 months in advance
  4. Houseboats fro Xmas New Year - 6 to 8 months in advance
  5. Lower priced air flights at least 4 months in advance

There are some great last minute deals if you just decide one day to take a break

How are vouchers issued

Vouchers are sent by eMail or fax (should you prefer) to both the lodgings / tour operators and yourselves with the relevant phone numbers and Itinerary

Can I take my own food and drink to the accommodation I book?

If you would like to have the freedom to buy and cook your own food while you are on holiday – be sure to book SELF CATERING accommodation. Most hotels do not permit you to make your own food and drink into your holiday room.

If I am staying at a hotel – do I have to eat all my meals there as well?

Not at all. Hotels offer different rates to the holiday guest – so you can book the Room only (RO), or Bed & Breakfast (B&B), or Dinner, Bed and Breakfast (DBB) or Full Board that includes all meals in the hotel (FB) – so you can choose what suits you.

Do children have to pay full price?

Children under 12 are generally half price. Some hotel groups even provide free accommodation for children staying with their parents to make a family holiday affordable. It is also worth noting that some places do not accommodate children.

When do I have to pay for my holiday?

To secure your booking, most places ask for a Deposit. This is usually 50% of the total cost of the holiday. The balance 45 days prior to leaving

What clothes do I need to take on holiday?

Most places are very relaxed about what you want to wear – you are on holiday after all! More up-market hotels may ask you to wear a shirt and tie to dinner, and to cover your swimming costume with a T-Shirt and sarong when popping in for lunch.

Travel Insurance

Don’t Leave Home Without It but Do Read the Fine Print

The decision whether or not to buy travel insurance has become less of a question than it once was. In these days of non-refundable airfares, bankruptcies of airlines, trip cancellations, incidents of terrorism and natural disasters, the question is not so much whether to buy but what to buy. Insurance plans range from off-the-shelve packages to suit casual holiday makers, to very specific packages tailored for the individual. It definitely pays to shop around and some of the best deals are to be found online

Cancellation Fees

Rand's 350 per person included any bank charges is due for cancellation of any bookings, once an invoice has been issued

Rand's 500 per person 40 days prior to date of travel

40% of total package price 15 days prior to date of travel
60&% of total package price 10 days prior to date of travel.
100% within 7 days of date of travel

Cancellation fees may be altered depending on our supplier, and also the circumstances surrounding the reason for cancellation.
