for an Idea of Elephant back Safaris at Elephant Camp

On 35,000 acres of privately owned wildlife estate The Elephant Camp offers
elephant back safaris close to Victoria falls where you can share a day
in the life of an elephant at very close quarters
The elephants are all orphans. Miss Ellie and Jumbo come from the Zambezi
Valley, while Jock and Jack come from Hwange National Park. They have
grown up with humans, are well-accustomed to visitors and have multiplied.
All are free to return to the wild should they wish and some do, but
then return later
Guests are encouraged to spend as much time as possible during their
stay in getting to know these wonderful animals. This could include
picnics with the elephants, training sessions, washing/grooming routines
or just the enjoyment of observing them, whether feeding naturally in
the bush or swimming at one of the waterhole's
Shane White, Sales and Marketing, says that the new lodge will be based just 15 minutes from Victoria Falls town and will offer its guests the unique experience of interacting with its orphaned and domesticated elephants on the concession.
The luxury tented lodge will overlook the gorge of the Zambezi River and offer a view of Rapid 11 along its rafting route.
“It’s a quick development process,” explains White who furthered that the structures have been ordered from South Africa and that foundations are busy being laid at the site.
Wild Horizons Sanctuary Lodge will encompass nine rooms with only 18 beds each covering about 100sqm. The rooms will have concertina doors that will open up to a view of the gorge. Included in the rooms is a lounge area, an outdoor shower and a wooden deck.
The concession lies on the border of the Victoria Falls National Park and various relocation efforts will be done with Zimbabwe’s National Parks to ensure that the area contains game that has moved away from the area over the years. This includes rhino and a possible cheetah breeding project.
The lodge is expected to be opened around the same time as Indaba next year to allow for pre- and post tours for attending international buyers. It will be managed by Africa Albida Tourism
