Devils Pool - Swimming on the Lip of Disaster

The Devil's Pool at the falls' brink - a small lagoon enclosed by rocks where, in the dry season, some people swim and even climb up on the very lip of the Devils Arm Chair

Swimming usually opens during the last week of August and stops around the months of December or January depending on the amount of rains

"Devils Swimming Pool" on the top of Victoria falls. During the months of Sept to Dec, people can swim as close as possible to the edge of the falls without falling over 128m Would you dare?

We recommend that you bring the following for Island Safaris
- Swimming gear - Sun block - Binoculars - Cameras and batteries - Personal medication - Insect repellant - Guests should wear; flat shoes, rafting shoes (tevas) or trainers.
- From June to August we recommend guests to bring warm clothes because it can be very cold and windy.

The Livingstone Island plays a major role in the history of Zambia

David Livingstone missionary explorer viewed the Mosi-Oa-Tunya [the smoke that thunders] from this Island, on the 16th of November 1855 with help of the local tribesmen [the Kololo under Chief Sekeletu] using dugout canoes

He later named the Mosi-Oa-Tunya The Victoria Falls after Queen Victoria
