Packing Guide, catering, drinks, ice options for houseboats from both
the Binga and Kariba Town sides of Lake Kariba
Kariba Town - catering options
Unless you take the All Inclusive option on the luxury boats, everything
is ordered and paid for separately with a choice of 4 menus to choose
from. All drinks are purchased on a sale and return basis.
Catering can be supplied at a rate depending which menu is chosen
Drinks can be put on board for the client and payable in Z$
according to what they drink
National Parks Fees are payable at the rate of R50 p.p. for
Lake Entry (one off payment)
Fishing licences
Selection of catering menus currently (2007) available are
Ø Brunch and Dinner - SAR235 per person per
night
Ø 3 Meals a Day - SAR275 per person per night
Ø Full House - SAR370 per person per night.
These menus are designed for different types of cruises, and can be
adapted to suit personal needs, and any special requests or dietary
requirements that you may have
Please note that these prices are quoted in Rands and payable at the
current parallel market rate, they are also subject to 15% Vat

Generally drinks/ice/bait are included if selecting the fully catered
option but can vary from boat to boat

Imported wines and Whiskey are very expensive in Zimbabwe so please
bring your own wines and spirits
What do you need to bring for the fully catered option
We suggest bringing your own bath towels, fishing gear, Videos, books,
Music Tapes/ CD's, Darts and Sim cards for Satellite TV on certain boats

When Self Catering on houseboats
If self-catering there is a cook to prepare your meals but please bear
in mind
* Try to plan meals that are simple to prepare and easy to clean up
* Main shortages in Zimbabwe which the clients are advised to bring
are:- flour - cake (for making deserts, cakes, etc, plain for making
bread and rolls) 3kg of each sugar - 4 kg's cooking oil - 5l salt- 1
pkt 500gms butter - 4 x 500 gms marmite/bovril cereals like coco pops,
etc.
You can get pronutro, mueslie, honey crunchies, corn flakes, chocolates
& sweets cheese biscuits wine and rum olives, and other delicacies
in Zimbabwe
FOR SELF-CATERERS driving through Bulawayo you can buy some
groceries at

If opting for self-catering please ensure you bring your own toilet

Packing Guide
This list is not exhaustive, but should give you an idea of
what to bring
- Food
- Salt, pepper, spices and sauces
- Tea, coffee, milk, sugar etc
- Paper serviettes and toilet paper
- Bath soap, (toiletries etc)
- Fishing Gear
- Insect repellant and sun cream
- Lemons for drinks and for the fish that you are going to catch
- Plastic bags for all the fillets you are going to take home
- Torches and batteries, Candles
- Matches/Lighter
- Binoculars, camera, video camera etc
- Hats
- Beach Towels
- Cell phone and charger
- Games & Cards Reading Material, VHS Movies, CD's
- Insect Repellent, Sun block
- Paper Towels
- Disposable Plates/Cutlery
- Rain Poncho
- The boats have a small first aid kit aboard but it is always advisable
to bring your own
If you have left anything behind you may want to visit the shop in
the harbour, at Kariba or Binga Spar in Binga, which has a variety of
"goodies" and boating items

A provisional booking will be made and will not be confirmed until a deposit
on charter rate is paid.
Should a deposit not be paid the booking will automatically
be released 14 days from date of provisional booking
