Houseboat Conditions

Houseboat conditions for boats at Kariba when fuel for the motherboat is included in the rate

Included options

Hire of houseboat, 15% Sales Tax, 2% Tourism Levy, cutlery, crockery and linen. The use of the tender boats and service of crew as specified on the webpage
Fuel for mother boat and 1 tank of fuel for tender boats

Excluded in rate

Fuel for mother boat and for tender boats. This is paid at the end of the charter in cash or travellers cheques. Please take a reading with the Captain before and on completion of the charter.
Catering - Full catering can be arranged for guests/clients at an additional cost. A selection of menus are:
Ø Luxury Fisherman's Menu
Ø Basic Menu
Ø Executive Menu

As their names suggest, these menus are designed for three different types of cruises, and can be adapted to suit personal needs

Self-catering clients: Please provide cleaning materials such as dishwashing liquid, matches, air-freshner, toilet rolls etc

Drinks Beers and Minerals, ice and bait - this is arranged separately for you on a Sale on Return basis. You can fax an order for drinks which is placed onto the boat prior to your arrival. The full amount due for the drinks order is to be paid upfront and before departure on the charter and then at the end of the trip the client will be reimbursed for drinks not consumed. A small delivery fee is charged and any broken/lost bottles or crates will be placed onto the client's account.
Bait for fishing is also organised with the drinks order.
Please bring your own spirits & imported wines.
Fishing Equipment tackle and bait. - this can be hired and the current rates are S.A.Rands 25 per rod per day. Tackle is to be provided by the client

Alternatively when available tackle packets can be arranged. Each packet contains 2 x Tiger Traces, 4 x Bream Hooks and Sinkers. Once a packet is opened you cannot return it for a refund on tackle not used.
Bait: Kapenta can be ordered on client’s behalf – please advice
Please bring your own music CD's, cassettes, videos, swimming and bathing towels as well as personal toiletries.
The National Parks Board has a Lake Usage and Fishing Levy fee . These fees are to be paid by you to the Parks Officer at the harbour where the boat is moored before boarding the boat . Effective 1 Oct 2005

Fishing licence fees
Fishing Permit - ZW$250 per fisherman per day - roughly SAR 14.00 per person per day (max 2 rods per day).
Rands 30 per child (aged 12 years & below)

These rates do change from time to time and the receipt must be kept with clients at all times as National Parks do spot checks on the lake

Harbour Parking Fee
CAR PARK FEES vary from harbour to harbour and are approx - SAR10.00 per vehicle per night and are payable by the client upon arrival at the harbour.

Own Tender Boat

Your own boat may be towed behind some houseboats - entirely at your own risk.
Please note you will be charged a slip way fee by Marineland Harbour if they use their tractor to put your boat into the water plus a nightly fee for vehicles parked in their parking areas.

1 Night Charter may go only as far as either Antelope or Zebra islands
2 Night Charter may go only as far as Nyodza/Palm Bay or as above
3 Night Charter may go only as far as Palm Bay/Sanyati West
4 Night Charter may go only as far as Gordan's Bay
5 Night Charter may go only as far as Elephant Point
6 Night Charter may go only as far as Umi River

Most boats have the above limits but is flexible for some boats. We can assist you

Payment

a deposit of 50% is required before bookings are made
payment to be made by credit card or directly into bank account
credit card payments attract a 5.25% surcharge
full payment required 45 days before departure

It is essential that Malaria prophylactics be taken when visiting Zimbabwe. US$20 Departure Tax is required when leaving Zimbabwe by charter plane. US$100 and US$50 notes are not accepted.

A provisional booking will be made and will not be confirmed until a deposit on charter rate is paid. Should a deposit not be paid the booking will automatically be released 14 days from date of provisional booking
