National parks within the Caprivi Strip

Permits for all Ministry of Environment and Tourism campsites can be obtained from the office in Katima Mulilo (about 3 km east), or from the field offices at Susuwe, Nakatwa and the northern gate of Mamili National Park

Game Viewing:
In The Golden Triangle several lodges along the Kwando river take visitors on game-viewing drives where herds of elephant, buffalo, hippo and other species can be observed.

The circular route passes through flood plains where red lechwe and even puku and sitatunga might be seen, and culminates at the scenically beautiful Horseshoe Lake, one of several ox-bow lakes that have formed in the area

In March and April these tranquil expanses of water are a magnificent sight, as they become covered in a dense growths of white and yellow water lilies

 

Fishing- the Tiger fish
The far eastern tip of Caprivi, where the Chobe and Zambezi rivers meet, is regarded as the best spot in Namibia for fly-fishermen to land that ultimate freshwater angling challenge

Superb angling opportunities for the 93 species which inhabit these waters, are on offer. Most lodges practise a catch and release policy

Trips to the neighbouring Chobe National Park in Botswana are arranged by most lodges

Trips to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe are less than an hour's flight away from Katima Mulilo or 120 kms by road through two border posts [pre fill the forms to speed up the formalities]

Katima Mulilo to Livingstone (Victoria falls from the Zambian side) is about an hour and half by road over the bridge at Schuckmansburg [150kms]

Boat trips down the Kasani and into the Chobe river are exciting, with both game viewing and birdwatching is at it’s best

At the Caprivi Art Centre in Katima Mulilo, distinctive pottery, wood carvings and basketry from the region can be bought.
