Getting There

BY COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS

From Johannesburg to Victoria Falls South African Airways, British Airways (Comair) and Air Zimbabwe.

From Johannesburg to Livingstone in Zambia - Nationwide, SAA and BA (Comair)

Road transfers easily arranged from Lusaka - Livingstone or Victoria Falls

BY ROAD

Zimbabwe has an impressive road infrastructure.
Traffic drives on the left

CAR HIRE available at airports and main hotels.
Documentation required:

International Driving Permit or national licence (for up to 90 days); if not in English it must be accompanied by a certificate of authority or translation of text.
Car hire is available but expensive - best suited for exploring the east and south-east of the country.

Kariba is four and half hours by tarred road from Harare (365 km's).
Lusaka airport in Zambia is a 2.5 hour drive on a tarred road to Kariba
staircaseBy road from South Africa: from Beitbridge - Masvingo - Gweru (short cut fro Chegutu to Chinhoyi)

via Botswana through Plumtree - Bulawayo to Kariba

from Livingstone (Zambia) there is a tarred road all the way - travelling time approx. 8 hours.

Lake Kariba

a 2000 km shoreline gracing which is the Matusadona National Park - a prime wilderness area and home to elephant, lion, buffalo, waterbuck, duiker, leopard, jackal, impala, kudu, zebra.

Lake Kariba has more than 50 varieties of fish thought to breed in its waters including bream, chessa, nkupe, cornish jack, bottlenose, vundu,
kapenta as well as tigerfish.

Tiger fishing is best from September/October but can be caught all year round.
Bream can be caught throughout the year.

For the bird lover, in summer look for over 480 species.
