A large luxury house located on the banks of the Zambezi River near Livingstone and 15 km upstream from Victoria Falls on the Zambian bank

Tangala

The house is ideal for families and is designed to keep insects out, with glass windows all round. Large herds of elephant often come down to drink on the opposite bank and hippopotamus are regularly seen and heard. There is fantastic birdlife, with over 145 species to date spotted from the kitchen window.

Facilities

The living room has a large sofa and two armchairs and leads onto a ‘snuggery' with satellite TV, video, Hi Fi and jetmaster fireplace.

The kitchen/dining room is huge, 13m x 6m,with the front wall being taken up by a 5m long window, with a stunning view of the Zambezi. It is well equipped, with fridge and freezer, fan assisted double oven, gas cooker, ceramic double sinks, a separate drinks fridge and a microwave oven. The large dining table seats twelve.

The master bedroom faces the Zambezi River and has a king size teak bed with sitting area and sofa, bathroom with large double bath set into railway sleepers, and shower

Bedroom 2 also faces the Zambezi River, and has a queen size four poster iron bed, with a walk-in bath and shower.

Bedroom 3 has a king-size teak bed, with walk in bathroom with large double bath and shower.

Bedroom 4 has twin beds and a bathroom across the passageway, with cast iron bath

Tangala House The swimming pool is 11m x 5m, with an extra shallow area for children and bench seating. In front of the house is a grass lawn, which drops 1m to 20 m of wild riverene grassland and then to the Zambezi River

The veranda easily seats ten, and is open thatch with steps onto the lawn and towards the swimming pool and the terrace, which has a railway sleeper picnic table seating eight.

Tangala comes with one house assistant and two grounds men. The house assistant will help with cooking, housekeeping and laundry

Most of the rooms have very high thatch ceilings and the passages have large 3-4m high 'Moroccan’ arches, with 1m thick walls.

The house has 250m of private river frontage, with no properties on either side

Full Board price

This rate includes the daily rental of Tangala, plus a per day, per person rate for meals and bar. You are looked after by the house staff, as well as a chef and waiter.

Full board rate - US$1,044 per day plus US$128 per person per day for meals and bar. (Children under 14 are US$64.)

All Inclusive price

Tangala can be booked on a fully inclusive basis, serviced by Tongabezi Lodge. You have your own private guide and host, chef, waiter, housekeeper, pool and ground attendant, as well as private use of vehicles and boats. On this basis all meals and bar, as well as river activities from the house and trips to the Falls, shops, curio markets, museums and game park are all included in the rate

This rate gives you total flexibility: enabling you to do what you want, when you want, all with your own host/guide and with complete privacy.
