Vumbura Plains Camp

(pronounced Vuumbera) is divided into two smaller camps each comprising 14 beds bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta.

The privacy of this area is one of Vumbura's main attractions along with its great wildlife and superb all round Okavango experience.

Each camp sleeps 14 guests totalling 28 guests.

Combinations can be made using both camps however such as 16 guests in one and 12 in the other to accommodate various-sized parties

• 6 x twin bedded tents

• 1 x honeymoon tent

• 1 x twin guide room (not the same standard as a guest room)

• 2 x family tents – accommodates four guests

6 of the twin beds at both Vumbura Plains North and South can be converted into king-sized beds on request.

Tent details:

Both camps and all 14 tents are on decks and connected by raised walkways
Canvas tents under thatch with en-suite facilities including 2 basins on a vanity

Rates - 2010 - on an all Inclusive Basis

Low Season: - 01 December 2009 - 14 June 2010
USD 1035 | € per person per night sharing

High Season - 15 June to 15 November
USD 1455 | € per person per night sharing

Includes: All local drinks beers, wines and mineral water are included in the nightly tariff, with the exception of premium wines & champagne, and premium liqueurs & spirits.

* Laundry is done on a daily basis and inclusive in the nightly tariff with the exception of 'smalls' ie underwear, which are not washed due to local customs.

* All flight transfers to and from the Tented Camps are extra and costs are based on a minimum of two guests.

* All guests must be covered by a fully comprehensive travel insurance policy valid from the date that they confirm the itinerary

Children over the age of 8 years are welcome

Game Viewing

dining Elephant are found all year round but peak roughly from May till late October. Lion are seen regularly and it is a good area for leopard and wild dog. Plains game is good year round but peaks in the dry months. Excellent birding especially Carmine Bee-eaters in summer.

The water levels around the camp change each year depending on the level of the annual floods from central Africa

Type – 50% Game drives, 50% Water activities (but can change depending on flood levels)

Game drives via 6 x 10-seater open 4x4 Land Rovers each accommodating a maximum of seven guests, allowing all guests an outside seat.

Mokoro excursions in 6 mokoro (each mokoro seats two guests)
Two boats that seat 6 comfortably in each.

Suggested Daily Activity Schedule

Summer/Winter

05h00/06h00 - Wake up call. Light continental breakfast consisting of cereals, tea/coffee/ juices and pastries to be served in the dining area.

05h30/06h30 - Depart on morning activity, returning to camp at approximately 10h00.

10h00/11h00 - Brunch will be served consisting of a selection of breakfast and lunch dishes. From now until afternoon tea, guests will be at leisure.

16h00/15h00 - Afternoon tea will be served consisting of a selection of sweet and savoury snacks.

16h30/15h30 - Depart on afternoon game viewing activity – drinks and snacks will be served for sundowners during the course of the activity.

19h30/19h00 - Return to camp (but could be later if good game sightings).

20h00/19h30 - Pre-dinner drinks and snacks will be served at the pub.

20h30/20h00 – Three-course plated/served dinner

21h30/21h00 - Coffee and liqueurs will be served at the campfire.
