Kiambi Safari Lodge

on the Zambezi river bank, Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia, in front of Kanyemba Island and within the Chiawa Game Management area

Wildlife in this area and sighted all year round from Kiambi (the place of the rain tree) are elephant, buffalo, hippo and crocodile.

Further down the river within the Lower Zambezi National Park, lion and hyena are regularly sighted. Leopard and wild dog are not uncommon.

Luxury Chalets

* 3 x luxury air-conditioned chalets with en suite facilities. (best buy for hot months)

These chalets come with a fully stocked bar fridge and tea and coffee facilities.

A small private fire area and garden are found just outside these 3 chalets

Self-catering

* 1 x thatched self catering cottage with 2 twin bedrooms, a loft bedroom, a bathroom, a self contained kitchen with all equipment, a lounge area, as well as a barbeque area is available overlooks the Zambezi River

Maximum of 6 guests permitted in the cottage. Self catering guests are able to eat their meals at the lodge restaurant at the set menu prices, with pre booking

Luxury Safari tents

* 8 x luxury tented en suite units, raised on wooden platforms and with thatch roofs to keep the midday heat out.

All tents have a view of the Zambezi and come with a fully stocked bar fridge, tea and coffee facilities and fans.

A tented unit can accommodate 3 single beds comfortably or 4 at a squeeze

Surrounded by exceptional and breathtaking scenery of the rivers and plains with the mountain backdrop of the Zambezi Escarpment

Activities

- game viewing - The Lower Zambezi national park is accessible all year round by boat

- canoeing (no previous experience necessary)
paddle in stable Canadian canoes in the company of an experienced river guide
1, 2, 3 night or 4 night canoeing safari

- bird watching - excellent all year round but to see the central African migrants best time is from end of September to March

- sunset cruises/game viewing
explore the area by boat in search of wildlife - breathtaking scenery - unforgettable African sunsets

- Tiger fishing (fantastic) on a catch and release basis. The ideal Tiger fishing period is from September to April, but hooking a tiger during the winter months is not impossible

Access

22km from Chirundu - the lodge is 10 km from the pontoon on the Kafue river

Kiambi is accessible by road all year round, a 4WD is not necessary, but a high clearance vehicle is recommended.

From Chirundu there is an 11km gravel road to the pontoon across the Kafue River, and thereafter, another 11km of gravel road to Kiambi.

The pontoon is operational from 06h00 to 18h00 - cost is approx. US$ 20 per foreign registered vehicle.

By air, Kiambi’s closest airports are via Lusaka or Royal airstrip at Chirindu
If flying into Royal airstrip, a boat transfer can be arranged by Kiambi

The road transfer between Lusaka and Kiambi Safari Lodge takes about 2.5 hours

The transfer between Kariba airport and Kiambi is approx. 2.5 hours
