Situated on the Kafue River floodplain mid way between Livingstone and Lusaka, the Park is now the last stronghold of the Kafue Lechwe, an aquatic antelope of extraordinary grace

See and Do

You can spot 800 zebra in a single herd, as well as blue wildebeest, buffalo, kudu, bushbuck, oribi, hippo, jackal, reedbuck and waterbuck

Game and bird viewing is done during 4x4 drives, makoro excursions and guided walks. Visitors can also go fishing and visit ancient archaeological sites, local hot springs and the Nyimba fishing village which is reached by banana boat.

A visit to Nyimba village, which is made of reeds and is set on an island in the waterway, is an opportunity to experience local life and culture. Visitors can watch the locals entice fish into their nets and then sample the traditional fare of dried fish while sipping on locally brewed beer. Bringing the Nyimba community into the tourism orbit has created opportunities for the villagers, and Star of Africa supports the village school.

• All year round bird watcher’s paradise with over 400 species recorded.
• Water activities include excursions in dug-out canoes
• In addition, the park contains approximately 30 000 Kafue lechwe, 2 000 Blue wildebeest and 700 Zebra. Greater kudu, Bushbuck, Oribi, Hippopotamus, Side-striped jackal, Reedbuck and Common waterbuck are also present.
• Game viewing drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles.
• Guided walks.
• Cultural visits to nearby traditional fishing villages.
• Special interest safaris, e.g. birding, riverine ecology or questing for rare species such as the Sitatunga.

6 x double units cater for a maximum of 12 guests at any one time, making this a tranquil hideaway far from the main safari circuits
