Game Cruises

There are over 65,000 elephants in Chobe National Park, and are easily seen on a game cruise which is MUST DO.

You see swimming elephants, trumpeting elephants, bathing elephants, flatulent elephants, and elephants rolling in the mud.

You also come across several vicious-looking crocodiles, many hippos, buck, plains game ,baboons and several attractive species of birds.

Taken in open safari vehicles and boat cruises into the Chobe National Park.

Traditionally early morning game drives and late afternoon boat cruises are safari routine. Elephants are seen in the hundreds and buffalo in the thousands. Lions are seen almost daily as are impala, sable antelope, giraffe, warthog and numerous other species.

Across the Chobe river from Kasane is the flat grassy plains of Sedudu Island, a grazing ground for elephant and which provides a good opportunity to view birds and animals alike from close quarters. With over 450 bird species in the area look out for unusual ones such as the African finfoot and the halfcollared kingfisher.

Leopard Spotting - A number of large dead trees along the Sedudu Valley Road are ideal for spotting elusive leopards, which are plentiful in the area

Fishing

The Chobe River is a tributary of the mighty Zambezi River, home to more than 90 species of fish including the fighting Tiger Fish. Ichingo and Sedudu islands are an excellent area for fishing. There are designated fishing points on the banks of the Chobe River within the Chobe National Park. A map indicating the points is available at the entrance to the park
