Savuti Camp- Linyati Reserve

Savuti Camp is situated in the Linyanti Reserve along the Savuti Channel in northern Botswana. It is a perfect break for the 4 x4 brigade traveling between Chobe and Moremi game reserves

Savuti Camp is built about 17 kilometres "downstream" from the source of the Savuti. The channel stopped flowing in 1980 and what was a Hippo-filled river, is now wide, open grasslands.

All the predators occur in the Savuti region- Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog.

The Chobe/ Linyanti area is renowned for its dense Elephant population and for some of the best Elephant viewing anywhere in Africa.

40 different Lion have already been identified along the channel around Savuti camp and sightings of lions are almost guaranteed.

Savuti Marsh

The mysterious Savuti Channel, which sometimes flows from the Linyanti's waterways and into the heart of Chobe National Park, flooding the Savuti Marsh

Appearing and then drying up again a number of times over the last few centuries, the channel's flow is unpredictable.

Livingstone recorded in his journey in 1851 that it was flowing. He referred to it as a 'dismal swamp'. However by 1879 the channel had ceased and the Savuti Marsh had begun to dry out. It flowed again in the late 1950s, lasting until 1980 when it dried up
