mobile wilderness tour KazumaAn undeveloped, unspoilt wilderness. It is quite unlike any of the more familiar Zimbabwean bush or woodlands Modus Operandus For Mobile SafarisKazuma National Park is situated in the north-west corner of Zimbabwe, between Kazangula and Hwange National Park, and south-west of Victoria Falls, the Kazuma Pan National Park is only some 31 300 hectares in extent. However, the area is virtually an undeveloped, unspoilt wilderness. Reminiscent in part of the grass plains of East Africa, it is quite unlike any of the more familiar Zimbabwean bush or woodlands. The best time would be before the rains, from September to November when large concentrations of game usually cross Kazuma, making use of borehole-pumped water. Elephant and buffalo occur in sizable numbers and lion are common. Species to be seen are giraffe, zebra, roan, sable, tsessebe, eland, lion, cheetah, wild-dog, leopard, hyena, reedbuck, elephant and buffalo. A species endemic to the Kazuma depression is the oribi, a small antelope, not often seen in other parts of the country. The park's two 'primitive' camp sites are in a patch of mopane woodland. This is a lovely place for an independent group of experienced wildlife enthusiasts to set up camp and visitors can stay in them for up to three weeks In all, we offer you the chance to acquire the true wilderness experience. " We left Kazuma at sunset and animals started appearing soon after dark, including a scrub hare, an aardwolf, two different leopards, an African wild cat, a bat-eared fox and an eagle owl. We saw all of these in our headlight beam, without even leaving the road, and also chanced on a pair of side-striped jackals on the Kazungula Road! " Getaway Meals and Drinks
