Botswana Explored TripA 6 night 7 day mobile safari trip from Maun through the Okavango Delta and Moremi to Linyati and Chobe game reserves ending in Kasane near Victoria falls.Day 1 to 3
The clients can either be met at the Maun airport and driven to the Moremi reserve or they can take a charter flight from Maun to the Xakanaxa airstrip in Moremi Reserve The drive takes about 4 hours but as you are going through wildlife area most of the way, there is always the possibility of seeing some animals on route. The Okavango is a unique ecosystem in that it is situated in the middle of the largest stretch of continuous sand in the world – the Kalahari basin. This wetland lies like an oasis in an otherwise inhospitable landscape. The vegetation is lush, but very fragile and the wildlife is of the very best to be seen in Africa. The Moremi Game Reserve comprises almost one third of the Delta (4871 square km). The first afternoon will be spent getting to the camp so that the guest will be able to acquaint themselves with the camp and its surroundings. If there is time we will take an afternoon game drive. Day 2
On the morning of the 2nd day it is up early and out for a drive that will finish up at the boat station for a full day on the boat and this is a great opportunity to see the Okavango Delta by boat. There will be a packed lunch on one of the island and the trips followed by a short siesta and then cruise back to the boat station. Your guide will then take you on a game drive back to camp. Please note that your guide will accompany you on all activities.
Day 3
The safari will move through the Kwai area of Moremi and into the Chobe Park finishing in the Savuti area. This is a wonderful drive and there will be a packed lunch in the park on route to the camp. There should be time to venture out and do an afternoon game drive and end up at one of the water holes for sundowners…. The cook will have prepared dinner which will be a two course affair. The next days programme will be discussed around the fire with the guides after dinner. Day 4The activities over the next day will be centered around the water points. They are spaced out and so there is plenty to see, driving between them. The order of each day will follow on the lines of early morning drives followed by lunch, a siesta and then out for an afternoon drive. There are three water points that are pumped so that the animals in the area can drink. The elephants dominate the water hole but the lions in this area have adapted to killing up to 15-year-old elephant males!!! It is in this area that you realize that water is the currency of life.
Day 5It is a 4 hour journey from the Savuti area to the Chobe River. Lunch will be served in camp. The late afternoon is usually an elephant fest but there is always a lot of diversity of animals to see. Day 6It will be an early start with a game drive in the morning, which will finish at the banks of the Chobe River at midday. A boat will be waiting to take everyone on a boat for a 3-hour game cruise with lunch on board. This is wonderful way to see the game and the Chobe River. Once back on land we will take a late afternoon drive. The Chobe River is well known for its vast herds of elephants and it's diversity of all animals. It is also home to the Puku, which is this antelope’s most Southern range. Day 7Pack up camp and drive into Kasane.
