Semi-participation safari
Terms and conditions as well as an overview for semi-participation tented safaris in Zimbabwe
Modus Operandus For Mobile Safaris
SEMI-PARTICIPATION.
The safari is a semi-participation safari and guests are expected to
help with erecting and breaking down of the camp, however, there is
a cook along to help with the food and general chores around the camp.
We don’t have set departure dates and trips are usually an average
length of 3 nights - 4 days, however, this can be altered to suite guest
requirements.
There is no laundry done.
Luggage- clients should bring
a max of 12kg's luggage as all the equipment will fit in the trailer
that is towed behind the vehicle and moves with the safari.
These safaris are conducted in Hwange and Kazuma National Parks in
Zimbabwe. Please noted that we do not go into Kazuma between November
and May due to the nature of the very muddy terrain in that park at
this time of the year.
Kazuma National Park
is situated in the north-west corner of Zimbabwe,
between Kazangula and Hwange National Park, and south-west of Victoria
Falls, the Kazuma Pan National Park is only some 31 300 hectares in
extent.
However, the area is virtually an undeveloped, unspoilt wilderness.
Reminiscent in part of the grass plains of East Africa, it is quite
unlike any of the more familiar Zimbabwean bush or woodlands.
Species
to be seen are giraffe, zebra, roan, sable, tsessebe, eland, lion, cheetah,
wild-dog, leopard, hyena, reedbuck, elephant and buffalo. A species
endemic to the Kazuma depression is the oribi, a small antelope, not
often seen in other parts of the country.
In all, we offer you the chance to acquire the true wilderness experience.
Meals and Drinks
Three substantial meals per day are served, between planned safari
activities. Breakfast will include and full English options or a quick
cereal and coffee breakfast to accommodate game drives and early departures.
Brunch or lunch will consist of a main meal, two salads and fruit. At
tea time we offer biscuits with tea and coffee. Whilst dinners consists
of two course meal and table wine. Menus of fresh produce change every
day and vegetarian or special diets can be catered for by prior arrangement.
Local table wine with dinner throughout the safari is inclusive in
the price
Drinks in the form of local bottled water, local beers and local soft
drinks are inclusive in the price.
Type of Vehicles
The vehicles used on the semi participation safari are custom fitted
4 x 4 vehicles that seat 6 people in individual seating, excluding the
guide.
Type of activities that are offered
The daily activities will generally consist of an early morning start
with a light breakfast i.e.: tea, coffee, cereal and toast. Depending
on what has been heard during the night we will either start out from
camp on foot, or go by 4x4 vehicle on a drive with the view to looking
for tracks, exploring new areas and tacking of animals. We are usually
back in camp by mid-day for a brunch - then a siesta through the heat
of the day. After tea an afternoon activity which usually finishes up
at a water point for sundowners. Please note that each trip varies and
we generally very flex-able.
In Hwange National Park we utilise the northern areas of the park (Sinamatella/Robins)
due to it being a fantastic walking area. The Sinamatella area also
has an (IPZ) Intensive Protection Zone, which is one of the last strong
holds for the Black Rhino in Zimbabwe. This then offers us the chance
to track the elusive Black Rhino on foot.
