Safari camping Tips

Travelers tips for safari camping tours in Southern Africa- Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe

Tame Elephants

Be very aware of the danger and nuisance of monkeys and baboons around camp.

They are looking for food.

Pack your foodstuff securely out of their reach in trunks.

These animals have learnt what the zip on a tent is for, so lock those zips

If unable to store food in a trunk then take it with you in your vehicle.

Cameras, films, toiletires and all camping gear should be secured

This elephant clearly needed to make a trunk call but did seem to be having fun with the owner of our sister company "Flame of Africa"- who would not give up his cell.

These are tame elephants who are used to humans and inter-action is part of their training. NEVER GET CLOSE TO WILD ELEPHANTS AND ESPECIALLY FEMALE HERDS

Elephants & Oranges:

many tales abound about the elephants fondness for oranges

His love of this juicy fruit can lead him to overturn vehicles in his quest to reach that one lying on your dashboard.

Best remedy - throw out the oranges before you get to camp.

It is very important to make sure your tent is tightly secured at night. Lions and hyenas do come sniffing around.

Hyenas are bold and will have no hesitation in taking what they can latch their awesome jaws on to.

NEVER feed any animal - no matter how cute they might look

NEVER run or turn your back on a animal, walk backwards slowly
