A 6 night mobile safari starting and ending in Maun into Moremi park of the Okavango Delta.
Moremi 6 night 7 day
Starts and ends Maun
Moremi 6 night itinerary
Day 1 to 4
The clients can either be met at the Maun airport and driven to the
Moremi reserve or they can take a charter flight from Maun to the Xakanaxa
airstrip in Moremi Reserve at extra cost
The drive takes about 4 hours but as you
are going through wildlife area most of the way, there is always the
possibility of seeing some animals on route.
The Okavango is a unique ecosystem in that it is situated in the middle
of the largest stretch of continuous sand in the world – the Kalahari
basin.
This wetland lies like an oasis in an otherwise inhospitable
landscape. The vegetation is lush, but very fragile and the wildlife
is of the very best to be seen in Africa.
The Moremi Game Reserve comprises
almost one third of the Delta (4871 square km). The first afternoon
will be spent getting to the camp so that the guest will be able to
acquaint themselves with the camp and its surroundings.
If there is
time we will take an afternoon game drive.
Day 2
The second day will be spent exploring the game reserve by vehicle
on a morning and afternoon game drive.
Day 3
On the morning of the 3rd day we will spend game driving around Xakanaxa.
Day 4
Early rise and pack up of camp. Then off to the Boat Station where
after loading the boat we will go out and explore the channels of the
Okavango Delta. Camp will be put up on an Island where we will spend
one night.
Day 5
The safari will move through the park to the Kwai Community area. This
is a wonderful drive and there will be a packed lunch in the park on
route to the camp. After getting to camp and taking a short break, it
is time for a sundowner drink on the Kwai River and see what comes down
at last light. Once it is dark the night drive will commence back to
camp.
Day 5 to 7
The next 3 nights will be spent in the Kwai Community area, which is
a fantastic wildlife area. The Kwai River, which is at its wides 20m
across, separates this area from the Moremi Reserve and so the animals
move freely between the areas. The Kwai River is where all the animals
come down to quench their thirsts and so the game viewing is very good
along its length.
Day 7
Clients can then either fly from Kwai airstrip to another safari camp
or to Kasane/Maun or we can drive them to Maun. This is a 3 hour journey.
