Fishing safaris: anglers tend to be pretty single-minded in their pursuit - preferring not to mix with others and generally best left to their own devices. With 75 species in the Zambezi and a few well selected private spots, consider the options on both the upper and lower stretches of the Zambezi River.

The waters surrounding the Islands lend themselves to great fly and spinning fishing.

The two species that anglers concentrate on are the Tigerfish and the Nembwe.

As the floodwaters of the Zambezi start to recede around July, large Tigerfish can be caught in and around the rapids.

Kalizo Lodge.

40km down river from Katima Mulilo on the banks of the Zambezi river.

Motor boats and pontoons for hire.

Accommodation for groups of up to 26 fishermen.

Accommodation options are dinner, bed and breakfast or self catering.

Caprivi Cabins

5 kms from Katima Mulilo on the banks of the Zambezi river.

Motor boats and Kayaks for hire.

Accommodation for groups of up to 15 fishermen Bungalows or chalet accommodation.

Activities are varied and include kayaking trips, birding, plunge pool, ski boat.

Shackeltons

Situated approximately 140km west of Livingstone (Zambia) and 55km east of Sesheke (Zambia).

In south-western Zambia on the Upper Zambezi River near the village of Mwandi, meaning a place of plenty fish.

Accommodation for 12 fishermen.

Shackletons is a prime venue for spin, lure and fly.

Fish for trophy tigerfish, bream, tilapia.

Kulefu Lodge

Shamashanga Lodge

The camp is located in the Lower Zambezi offering luxury East African walk in style tents with private en suite bathroom.

Shamashanga offers the visitor 40 kms of river frontage providing perfect opportunities for the novice and seasoned angler to land not only the Tiger but bream, chessa and vundu.

You can fish all year round but best months are September and October.

Tafika Fishing Lodge

Located 40 kms from Mana Pools in the Lower Zambezi's remote and unspoilt wilderness, Tafika lies at the confluence of the Chewore and Zambezi rivers - perfect fishing grounds for the legendary Tigerfish.

The camp is small accommodating only 14 guests in luxury.
