Road Transfer Times to Starting Point - Zambia

Lusaka – Zambezi Valley : (145km. approx 1 hr 45 min)

Lusaka – Kariba : (186km approx. 2/3 hr)

Livingstone – Zambezi Valley : (496km. approx 6 hr 45 min)

Livingstone – Kariba : (554km approx. 7 hr 45 min)T

ransfers Lusaka to Kiambi  US$ 429 per return per vehicle

Fishing rods and reels for hire  US$ 7 per day 

Transfer Times by Road - Zimbabwe

All Safaris transfers are made in open 4x4 vehicles. Clients do have an option to fly out of Mana Pools and Kanyemba on the day the safari ends (at an extra cost)

Transfer times are generally of the following duration by road:

Kariba to Gorge 20 mines
Kariba to Chirundu 3 hours
Kariba to Mana Pools 4 hours
Kariba to Kanyemba 7 - 8 hours

Please note that transfers are done on dirt roads

Canoe Trip & Tips Info

Zambia -Start Point

· Self drive to Gwabi lodge 15km from Chirundu
· Public transport to Chirundu or Gwabi lodge
· Pre arranged private Mini bus transfers from Lusaka or Livingstone
· Air charter into the Zambezi Valley followed by a boat transfer to the start point

Using public transport we will meet you at the Chirundu BP fuel station at 10.30am; Oasis – just twenty minutes before Chirundu (just ask the bus driver to drop you at Oasis) or Gwabi Lodge by 11.00am on the day of departure.

If by our private mini bus we will take you straight to the lodge for the start of your safari. Transfers from Victoria Falls need to be done the day before the safaris departure whilst those from Lusaka come down on the day of the safari’s departure.

If by air, suggest landing at Kayila or one of the scheduled flights into Royal airstrip (Ex pro-flight, Airwaves) to catch a boat transfer to Gwabi Lodge for 11am meeting

AIRCRAFT AND BOAT TRANSFER TIMES

Lusaka – Zambezi Valley air 30min to Kayila Camp starting point for the Great Zambezi.
Return road transfer Zambezi River to Lusaka approx 4.5 hours with 1.30min lunch break.
Flights out from Zumbo direct to Lusaka may be arranged on request on the last day.

EX-LUSAKA / LIVINGSTONE (AIR)

NOTE : There are two airstrips:

1. At the start of the safari (Royal Airstrip).
2. Near Mwambashi River Lodge at the end of the safari (Jeki Airstrip).

29 DEGREES 17 MINUTES EAST (1200M GOOD AIRSTRIP)

JEKI AIRSTRIP: 15 DEGREES 38 MINUTES SOUTH
29 DEGREES 36 MINUTES EAST (100M GOOD AIRSTRIP)

LANDING FEES AT ROYAL AND JEKI AIRSTRIP ARE FOR THE CLIENTS’ ACCOUNT WHERE APPLICABLE

Zimbabwe -Start Point

Canoe Safaris in Zimbabwe Start at either Kariba or from Private Lodges in Mana Pools

Kariba
- Commercial Flight to Harare and catch a Scheduled Private Bus to Kariba
- Drive to Kariba with secure parking

Mana Pools
- Charter flight to Mana Pools
- By road to Mana Pools. The 70 Kms from the entrance to Nyamepi Camp is rough

Bear in mind that the first thing that you generally want to do after a canoe safari is to take a shower and relax - we therefore recommend an overnight stay on the last night irrespective of the section arranged.
