Chitaka HikeThe best way to see and experience the wilderness and beauty of Mana Pools National Park is on a hiking trail
This hike is for the adventurous who enjoy a close experience with the wildlife. Hikers need to be reasonably fit and healthy as this safari proceeds at a moderate pace

You start from the Southern boundary of Mana Pools and you walk down into Mana Pools crossing paths with many beautiful and wild animals. It is an exciting trip with lots of walking and survival tactics needed. You will have a professional Hunter and Guide with you and staff to carry some of the heavy load if you are weary and tired. This trail is a combination of a fully backed up and semi participatory, where once you are in Chitake it will be fully backed up and the campsite will be already prepared for you and then once you begin the hike you will be required to help set up tents and organise the campsite Chitake Spring is a crucial water source in the southern part of Mana Pools where wildlife comes to drink
Itinerary starts and ends in Kariba
FIRST DAY The hike will cover approximately 7 kilometers on the first day and the first night stop will be on the escarpment with spectacular views of the Zambezi Valley on the edge of Mana Pools. SECOND DAY You will Be making our way down the Zambezi Escarpment and into the Mana Pools National Park; reaching the Zambezi River Valley floor by evening. An educational search for water, tracking and moving amid large red mahogany, sausage trees and many other beautiful species of plants and trees will be just part of this glorious day. Elephant and Impala are likely to be seen and many other game resident in this wildlife sanctuary including Lion, Leopard, Hyena, Buffalo, Kudu, Bush buck, Klipspringer and Baboon to name a few. Bird life is likely to be spectacular.
THIRD DAY A two hour road journey into Mana Pools through the ancient river bed will be a gentle introduction to the splendour of Mana Pools. The afternoon can be spent on a three hour canoe Trail on the Mana Pools shore line or a further walk in search of game. Overnight will be spent in Nyamepi Camp at Mana which has ablution facilities.
