Zambezi Escarpment

Walking Safari lower zambezi is a name used for the escarpments forming both sides of the rift valley in which lie the middle Zambezi river and Lake Kariba.

Rising 500 to 600 m higher than lake kariba or the zambezi river, running from the Batoka Gorge roughly 800 km to the lower Zambezi, and facing each other about 50 to 100 km apart, closer in the west and opening up in the east.

The Lower Zambezi National Park

The southern boundary of the park is the Zambezi River, the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia.

It is this magnificent river to the south and the undulating range of hills forming the Zambezi escarpment to the north that gives this National Park it’s incredible diversity of fauna and flora.

The Lower Zambezi National Park is now a regular destination in most Zambian itineraries.
