Wilderness horse trails

Your horse trail can last from one and half-hours to an overnight trail on the Livingstone, Zambian side of Victoria Falls.

Zambezi game Drive

Adventure trails to suit all riders.

Trails take place through pristine African Bushveld with exceptional views of the Zambezi River.

Large mammals are often seen during dry weather periods and bird-life is prolific.

Refreshments are served en route.

Champagne breakfast trails are offered for those that would like a trail with a difference.

We also cater for special occasions such as birthdays, honeymoons and anniversaries. Groups of various sizes are catered for; please enquire with reservations for further details.

We supply all riding equipment required for our trails.

Horse Trails are done at Chundukwa

Zambezi game Drive

Chundukwa is situated about 30km upstream from the Victoria Falls, overlooking the mighty Zambezi River. Map of Zambezi lodges

All of the trails are led by fully qualified guides, who will show you the sights and sounds of upper Zambezi bush and river systems.

There is a chance that you may see the shy and elusive bushbuck, the dainty impala and in certain seasons large herds of elephant may be seen as you steer your horse through the ever-changing terrain. Crocodile and hippo are a common sighting along the route.

Horses

The horses are all tough, hardy, well-schooled ponies.

We cater for all levels of riding, although novice and experienced riders should as far as possible not be mixed as the guide must cater for the weakest rider for safety, although a good gallop can be organised for the experienced rider.

Children

Children are welcome although under 12’s should have had previous riding experience if wanting to go on longer trails. Smaller children can be led on ponies while parents are out on the trails.

Clothing

We suggest for your own comfort, long trousers and trainers and bring plenty of sunscreen.

Equipment

Hard hats are supplied. Saddles are English, McLellan and Australian Stock saddles.
Saddlebags can be arranged if necessary for the longer trails. We do travel with a basic first aid kit and a radio.

wilderness horse trails

All trails start or finish along the banks of the Zambezi, while longer trails go into the indigenous Teak Forests that run parallel with the river.

Your horse trail can last from one and half-hours to an overnight trail.
