The Zambezi Explorer canoe Safari enters the Lower
Zambezi National Park and Parks fees are payable by each client. At
the moment these fees are US$25 per person per day for Entry to the
Park and US$10 per person for River Usage fees. You spend four days
canoeing through the park, therefore Parks fees amount to US$110 per
person per safari – subject to change without notice. |

Passing the fabled Mana Pools National Park on your right and then
the Lower Zambezi National Park on the left! – the safari starts
downstream from the Kariba Dam Wall, below the Kariba Gorge and on through
the flood plains and channels of the lower Zambezi River
Start Point
Options in getting to the start of your Zambezi Explorer Canoe Safari:
If by our private mini bus we will take you straight to the start point
of your safari.
· Pre-arranged private Mini bus transfers from Lusaka or Livingstone
in Zambia or from Kariba in Zimbabwe to the start of the safari
. Transfers from Livingstone / Victoria Falls to Kariba need to be
done the day before the safari’s departure whilst those from Lusaka
come down on the day of the safari’s departure.
. Lusaka – start point of the safari (186km approx. 2/3 hr)
. Livingstone – start point of the safari (554km approx. 7 hr

BASIC ITINERARY
As the Zambezi Valley can get hot in the summer months, you start early
to make the most of the cool part of the day. The same applies for the
late afternoons, while shade is sought during the hottest time of the
day.
Each day is quite similar – routine-wise
06:00/06:30 – wake up call – tea/coffee and biscuits served
and pack up camp
07:00/07:30 – launch canoes – start canoeing
09:00/09:30 – stop for breakfast (full English breakfast)
10:30/11:00 – start canoeing
12:30/13:00 – stop for lunch and siesta
14:30 – start canoeing again
16:30/17:00 – stop at night spot – set up camp etc organise
supper etc.

DAY 1:
Transfer by road from Lusaka to Kariba area for start of canoe safari
Overnight Namumba Island
DAY 2:
Overnight Twin Logs
DAY 3:
Re-supply of fresh produce at Chirundu/Gwabi
Overnight Kakomalala Island
DAY 4:
Overnight Mutondo Island
DAY 5:
Overnight Nyamatuse Island
DAY 6:
Re-supply of fresh produce at Chongwe
Overnight Lower G Channels
DAY 7:
Overnight Mpata (Mupata) Gorge
DAY 8:
Option for over-night stop tonight … either Redcliff (camping)
or Feira (further along, but with showers!)
DAY 9:
Depending on whether you spend last night at Redcliff or go straight
to Feira …
Redcliff Option – canoe to Feira after tea/coffee
Return Transfer
Feira Option – depart on vehicle for Lusaka after tea/coffee,
biscuits
