Low cost walking and canoe safari on the Zambezi

5 days / 4 nights of exploring the lower Zambezi by canoe, walking, driving and even a boat cruise

Chachacha LeopardDay 1 : Pick up from Lusaka at 09:00 for the transfer to Chirundu and the boat trip to the first night's campsite. Here we will spend a few hours in camp relaxing by the pool or in the bar before heading off at 16h00 for the Sunset Boat Cruise. Great opportunities to capture the beautiful African sunset as well as the rivers resident hippos and crocs. Dinner is enjoyed back in camp around the campfire.

DAY 2 : Off to an early start and over a cooked breakfast listen to a safety briefing for the 1-day canoe safari down the Zambezi.
A stop for lunch on one of the Zambezi islands before paddling on to the second night's camp - the Chongwe Community Bush camp. Here we can look forward to seeing large herds of buffalo and elephant, as well as hippos and crocs.

DAY 3 : Today we spend inside the Lower Zambezi national park.
Another early start to enjoy the cool of the morning and to look for the park's predators. During the heat of the day its time for rest and relaxation. After lunch its time for an afternoon game drive.
To end off the afternoon's bird viewing and game watching, we will taste Amarula - a delicious liquor made from the African Marula Tree.

Chachacha Tent SunsetAfter sundowners we move on to spend our first night inside the Lower Zambezi National park. Look for lion and leopard as well as porcupine, civet and genet.

DAY 4: After a light breakfast its time to put on the walking boots. Joining up with our Game Scout we head off for a 2 to 3 hour game walk. This is not a hard or strenuous walk and there will be plenty of stops to learn about spore, droppings, and the flora and fauna as well as catching sight of the park's many and diverse bird and wildlife.
Lunch will be taken back at the campsite - after which spend a few hours relaxing. The afternoon game drive starts at 15h00.

DAY 5: This is the last morning in camp. A game walk is available for those who like to get up early. Alternatively you can lie in and relax. We depart camp at about 11:00, stopping at an island for lunch and arriving back in Lusaka at about 17:00.
